The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is a concentrated solar thermal plant in the Mojave Desert. It is located at the base of Clark Mountain in California, across the state line from Primm, Nevada. The facility formally opened on February 13, 2014. In 2014, it was the world's largest solar thermal power station.

The Agua Caliente Solar Project is a 290 megawatt (MWAC) photovoltaic power station, built in Yuma County, Arizona using 5.2 million cadmium telluride modules made by the U.S. thin-film manufacturer First Solar. The project was completed in April 2014.

Borrego Springs, California - Solar Field
NRG Solar Field
The first commercial-scale solar energy field in the county was officially opened Friday in Borrego Springs. The 200-acre solar farm by NRG Energy, Inc. consists of 102,000 photovoltaic panels, each one measuring roughly 3 by 6 feet.
